About

JEFFERY SEED GRADING

Small beginnings

Family-owned business.

Jeffery Seed Grading was established in 1964 by my father, Cecil (Jim) Jeffery. Working as a farmhand was the precursor for Dad’s future endeavours; wheat-filled paddocks and golden sunrises fostering his agricultural interests.

Initial purchase of a new Hannaford Model K begun his seed grading journey and saw his interests flourish into passions. As demand grew around the Tamworth region, this marked the need for expansion. Dad purchased his second machine and sought his own farmhand, me.

I began on light duties like threading the needle to sow bags. And slowly, with Dad's help and expertise, I worked my way up to operating the seed graders. In 1998, my wife Shell and I took over Jeffery Seed Grading, eager to continue Dad’s agricultural journey and expand service and delivery options.

This family-owned business was built on the foundations of diligence and honesty, core values which we continue to foster 60 years on.

After taking over Jeffery Seed Grading in 1998, the growth of this family-owned business has been rapid.

Increased demand has seen the expansion of services into the Northwest region of NSW, servicing areas such as Goondiwindi, Coonamble, Blackville, and surrounds.

To satisfy this increased demand, I have manufactured 4 mobile seed graders, drawing on my expertise in diesel mechanics and hydraulics.

These developments have allowed us to service more regions and provide high-quality, diligent, and honest services to over 100 clientele around Northwest NSW.

The village of Duri has seen the establishment of this family-owned business, and the residence of the Jeffery name for over 100 years. Since gaining ownership in 1998, my wife Shell and I have witnessed the rapid growth of Jeffery Seed Grading, which we are proud to share with our three daughters and grandson.

Like Dad, the wheat-filled paddocks and golden sunrises continue to fuel my passion as a sole trader; eager to share my knowledge with my upcoming farmhand, pictured below.
